The Department of Science and Technology Studies is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Science and Technology Studies is a social science field with a strong interdisciplinary orientation. It analyzes the interactions of science, technology and society. The department is highly research oriented and has strong international networks. Its research focuses on knowledge and technology cultures, the relations of techno-sciences and publics and the governance of techno-science and society. In teaching, the department offers the English language master program ‘Science-Technology-Society’.
Job Description:
Areas of work cover research and teaching activities (holding classes due to extent regulations of wage agreement) as well as administrative duties. The successful candidate will contribute to the administration and organisation of the department and its teaching, will offer courses, and participate in research activities of the department. The candidate will also work on a dissertation. We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.Profile:
– university degree in the Social Sciences (Master or equivalent) or in any other field, given that the applicant can provide proof of significant prior qualifications in Science and Technology Studies
– ability to plan and conduct research in the context of a PhD thesis
– good knowledge in both theories and (particularly qualitative) methods of Science and Technology Studies
– motivation to contribute to innovative interdisciplinary teaching
