The Institute for Medical Ethics and History of Medicine of the Ruhr-University Bochum is now accepting fellowship applications for 2020-2021. This opportunity is for post-doctoral researchers who wish to spend four weeks during term time in Bochum as part of the Institute’s vibrant community of research and who seek to engage in collaborative and interdisciplinary exploration of some of the most important and compelling ethical issues. Applications will be accepted until Monday, October 14th, 2019 at 11:59 p.m CET. (Please indicate your preferred time slot in your application!)
Applications working on a broad range of ethical topics which may overlap with ongoing work at the Institute are invited. Requirements for application are a very good command of the English language and a successfully completed doctoral degree in medicine, philosophy, social sciences, psychology, or another relevant discipline with experience in the field of medical ethics.
The duration of the fellowships is one month with the option to extend the stay for another month. Fellows receive a monthly stipend of 1.200 EUR to cover their living expenses in Germany, depending on their qualification. Fellowships do not provide medical insurance or other social benefits. Social security or tax-payments are not deducted from the stipend.
The application should include your curriculum vitae, a short outline (1-2 pages) of the purpose of the visit and a copy of a recent publication or an example of relevant work. The latter should be on the order of a paper or chapter – not an entire book or dissertation – and should be in English. Please e-mail the application until Monday, October 14th, 2019. 11:59 p.m CET to Dr. Ina Otte (ina.otte@rub.de).
