Research Fellow at the Ethics & Philosophy Lab (m/w/d; E 13 TV-L, 100%)
The Cluster of Excellence “Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science” at the University of Tübingen offers one postdoc position in our Ethics & Philosophy Lab to be filled as soon as possible. The position is especially suited for a promising researcher with a PhD with an ethical focus, either in philosophy or in the humanities or social sciences. The position is fixed-term (until 31.12.2025), with a salary according to the German public sector (E13 TV-L).
The aim of the Ethics & Philosophy Lab of the Cluster of Excellence is to study current ethical questions arising from the use of artificial intelligence systems in science. This includes issues such as theresponsibility of researchers and technology developers, fairness and transparency in automatic decision-making, greater emphasis on ethics in technical research, and also general questions concerning the impact of machine learning technologies on society.
Tübingen is a leading place for research in machine learning. The position is embedded into the lively and interactive environment of the Cluster of Excellence “Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science” at the University of Tübingen (www.ml-in-science.uni-tuebingen.de) and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. Together, we would like to find out how machine learning can change science.
