At the Faculty of Social Science of the Ruhr-University Bochum a three-year 50% doctoral position (wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in) is vacant. The position will be related to the newly established Professorship of Cultural Psychology and Anthropology of Knowledge and to the just as newly established Centre for Anthropological Knowledge in Scientific and Technological Cultures (CAST). CAST is an interdisciplinary collaboration of researchers addressing contemporary and historical questions concerning the constitution of the ‘human’ through science and technology. More specifically the successful candidate will be a member of a research team with the focus on the knower (the configuration of knowers and modes of knowing), assessment studies (with particularly focus on valuation practices in educational contexts), and on IT security/privacy (including (big) data). Candidates are invited to apply with a proposal for a project within one of these areas. Projects with a comparative element are most welcome. The doctoral candidate will be supervised by Estrid Sørensen and be part of a team of doctoral scholars and post docs working within the area of Science and Technology Studies.
