Context
The vacant position is placed in the context of research and policy work on advance care planning (ACP). In a project funded by the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences, a disease-specific ACP program for patients with early Alzheimer’s Disease will be developed in close collaboration with partners in the United States, culturally adapted and piloted in the French-speaking region of Switzerland. Moreover, a collaborative policy project together with the Health Department of the Canton of Vaud aims at launching a comprehensive Cantonal strategy for introducing ACP in the Canton.
Lausanne University Hospital (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, CHUV) is one of the five university hospitals in Switzerland and an internationally renowned center of biomedical research. Within the Department of Medicine, the Chair in Geriatric Palliative Care is a newly founded innovative academic center attached to the services of geriatrics and palliative care. It conducts research, teaching and policy work on ethical issues and health services issues for elderly people near the end of their lives.
Your tasks
The position entails literature review, conceptual work, the cultural adaptation of an American ACP tool, questionnaire development and application, statistical data analysis, qualitative studies as well as presentation and publication of results. In addition, the position involves policy work in collaboration with clinical and public health partners in the region.
Your profile
The basic condition is an academic degree in medicine, nursing science, psychology, social sciences, bioethics or other pertinent disciplines. A completed PhD is an additional asset. Prior work experience in the health care setting is also desirable. We expect a certain expertise in quantitative and qualitative social science methods. The candidate has to have a very good command of both English and French, ideally being bilingual. We are looking for a person who is enthusiastic about ACP, has the ability to work independently and efficiently, loves to create a social network and influence policy issues.

Academic qualification to the levels of “Maitre d’enseignement et de recherche” (MER), PhD or “privat-docent” are highly supported.
