The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Professor of » Sociology of Science and Technology « at the W3 Associate / Full Professorship level (tenured). The professorship will be endowed by the Friedrich Schiedel Foundation and should be filled as soon as possible.
Scientific Environment
The professorship will be part of the TUM Department of Science, Technology & Society (STS), which will be part of the new TUM School of Social Sciences & Technology (to be founded on Oct 1, 2021). The department addresses the complex interactions between politics, society, economy and technology through transdisciplinary social science research and teaching and is being expanded to become a supporting pillar in the overall strategy of TUM, towards future-oriented education and research processes and human-centered, socially acceptable and trustworthy innovations (“Responsible Research & Innovation”).
Responsibilities
We are looking for an expert in the field of sociology of science and technology with experience in collaborating with other social science, natural science, engineering, or medical fields. Tasks include research and teaching as well as supervision and promotion of young scientists, as well as participation in the bachelor and master programs at TUM.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, relative to the applicable career level (further information at
www.tum.de/faq-berufungen/). A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as special pedagogical aptitude are prerequi-sites. International research experience is expected.
