The University of Klagenfurt is pleased to announce the following open position at the Department of Science Communication and Higher Education Research at the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, with an expected starting date of January 1, 2022:
Senior Scientist (postdoc) (all genders welcome)
Area of responsibility
- Original research in topical areas of Social Studies of Science, respectively Science and Technology Studies (STS), e.g., scientific cultures and organization, digital practice and culture, quality and valuation, data and infrastructures, science communication
- Publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals and talks at international conferences
- Participation in projects and other collaborative activities of the research group
- Independent delivery of courses (in English or German), mostly in the Master ‘Wissenschaft, Technik und Gesellschaft’ (Science, Technology & Society Studies)
- Supervision of students, mostly at M.A. level
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks
- Contribution to expanding the international network and outreach of the research group
Requirements
- Doctoral degree with above-average results in STS, the social sciences, humanities or another field/discipline relevant to STS
- Pertinent academic publications
- Profound knowledge of STS (concepts, approaches, themes, methods)
- Experience and skills in qualitative research methodology
- Very good command of English (at least C1 in CEFR)
