The University of St Gallen seeks to appoint an Associate Professor of Digital Sociology within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) from February 1, 2020. The successful candidate will be a qualitative social researcher. She or he will investigate the theories, methodologies and practices involved in the interaction between digital technologies and society and assess their political and ethical implications. Possible research areas include the workplace, networks and communities, social relationships, intimacy and the self.
Candidates will be committed to interdisciplinary research and teaching and will cooperate with colleagues in the SHSS and in the University’s main disciplines. The languages of instruction are German and English. Applicants must have a PhD, first-rate publications, and outstanding university teaching experience. The teaching requirement in the Contextual Studies program (https://www.unisg.ch/en/studium/darumhsg/kontextstudium) is 6 hours a week (approximately 2 courses) per semester.
