Work­ing field:

The aim of the pro­ject „Peer Review: a field-com­par­at­ive per­spect­ive” is to identify field-spe­cific prac­tices of peer review and to explain field-spe­cific mech­an­isms of qual­ity assess­ment. Case stud­ies in six research fields are planned in order to explore the rela­tion­ship between field-spe­cific assess­ment prac­tices and the cor­res­pond­ing every­day research prac­tices.

Tasks include par­ti­cip­a­tion in the con­cep­tual pre­par­a­tion, con­duct and ana­lysis of the planned empir­ical stud­ies (obser­va­tions, qual­it­at­ive inter­views, bib­li­o­met­ric ana­lyses, qual­it­at­ive con­tent ana­lyses). It is pos­sible to develop your own dis­ser­ta­tion topic based on the data col­lec­ted in the empir­ical stud­ies.

Require­ments:

  • suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in a social sci­ences dis­cip­line with a focus on sci­ence stud­ies, organ­isa­tional soci­ology or pro­fes­sional soci­ology.
  • Excel­lent Eng­lish lan­guage skills; good com­mand of Ger­man required; will­ing­ness to Ger­man is expec­ted
  • High degree of inde­pend­ence and com­mit­ment in the organ­isa­tion and real­isa­tion of pre­dom­in­antly qual­it­at­ive empir­ical stud­ies
  • Basic know­ledge of bib­li­o­met­ric ana­lyses is desir­able.
